Where to stay in Seville? See the best regions to stay

by Steven Hardy

Seville is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain and deserves to be on the country’s itinerary, especially if you want to feel the vibrancy of Spanish culture and Flamenco. Despite being an easy city to get around, it’s good to know where to stay in Seville to avoid long commutes and stay close to the city’s main tourist attractions.

With that in mind, I prepared a guide to the best regions and some accommodation suggestions to help you choose the best option for your travel budget.

Which part of Seville is the finest place to stay?

Choosing the best region to stay in Seville will depend on what you are looking for. Despite being a city that has a great infrastructure to serve tourists, there are neighborhoods that are more residential, others that are more bohemian and others where you will be extremely close to tourist attractions.

Regardless of what to do in Seville , there are four neighborhoods that are worth considering when looking for accommodation:

  • Antique Hull;
  • Tirana;
  • La Macarena.

1. Casco Antiguo

Casco Antiguo is the historic center of Seville , that is, the region where the city’s main tourist attractions are concentrated. This neighborhood merges with the small Santa Cruz neighborhood , which is also located in the same region, with not much separation between them.

The advantage of staying at Cascos Antiguo is that you can see the main tourist attractions without having to use public transport. It contains points such as the Seville Cathedral , Torre del Oro, the Real Alcázar , the Arrows of Seville (also known as Metropol Parasol), the Museum of Fine Arts, the Casa Pilatos and the Real Maestranza (the Bullring).

2. Tirana

The city is divided by the Guadalquivir River and Tirana is on the opposite side of the Casco Antiguo neighborhood. However, this neighborhood is another place worth considering when it comes to where to stay in Seville.

The region is known for its bohemia , with several bars, restaurants and great shopping. In fact, the Tirana neighborhood is home to the best Flamenco concert halls and theater companies . And this is exactly the advantage of the neighborhood.

3. La Mararena

La Macarena is a neighborhood located next to Casco Antiguo, but in the central-north region. It is a more residential neighborhood, but with all the charm of old houses . It has a good range of bars and restaurants and a tourist attraction, the Basilica de la Macarena and the old Hospital of the Five Wounds, which today houses the Parliament of Andalusia.

Crossing the Guadalquivir River bridge from the La Macarena neighborhood, you arrive at Isla Mágica, Seville’s Amusement Park. Therefore, it can be a good option for those traveling to Spain with children .

Care when choosing accommodation in Seville

Well, I think it’s worth highlighting some precautions when choosing your accommodation and where to stay in Seville, after all, there are more than 1,800 options available.

Although Seville is considered a very safe city, there are some regions outside the tourist and university areas that are worth avoiding. Are they:

  • El Vacie;
  • The Avenida Andalucia area known as Los Pajaritos and Los Parajos;
  • South Polygon.

In addition to these regions, before booking your accommodation, check the user ratings and reviews . Open the map and check where the accommodation is located to make sure it is in the best areas of Seville and if there is public transport and nearby restaurants to suit you.
